Our Class Pets

We have adopted some mealworms and will watch their metamorphosis as they move through their life cycle.

Their home is in a rolled oat / bran mixture kept moist with an apple slice. They’re nocturnal so they burrow. So far we’ve watched them moult, found out they get stressed out in the light, they can climb and their metabolism slows when they are cold.

Now we wait for them to pupate.
